Meditation / autosuggestion / autohypnosis exercise for weightloss or maintenance

This is a meditation / autosuggestion / autohypnosis exercise intended to assist with weightloss or weight maintenance. This exercise can be modified to other purposes such as quitting smoking.

This exercise takes ten to thirty minutes to accomplish and should be practised once a day or at least multiple times per week. Pauses are indicated by "..."; don't rush the pauses. Do this exercise slowly. Repeat suggestions when indicated. Never practice this while you are driving. You may say the following to yourself silently or out loud. All it requires is calm and your concentration. If possible, commit these suggestions to memory. Else, make an audio recording to guide your meditation.

Sit in a quiet room in a comfortable chair with your arms and neck supported if possible (e.g., in a recliner). Close your eyes and relax them. Breathe slowly and deeply.

Relax. Say the following, slowly, pausing after each line.

I feel calm...

I feel relaxed...

I feel in control...

I am calm...

I am relaxed...

I am in control...

I feel safe...

I feel secure...

I am letting go...

As I let go, all my muscle groups begin to relax...

I feel calm...

I feel relaxed...

I feel in control...

...

As my muscle groups relax, a golden beam of sunlight enters my chest...

Spreading warmth and relaxation throughout my body...

Ridding me of negative thoughts and feelings...

Leaving only positive thoughts and feelings...

I feel calm...

I feel relaxed...

I feel in control...

...

My subconscious mind is now ready to receive the following helpful and beneficial suggestions... [Alter the following to suit your needs. You don't need to use each statement each day.]

[Repeat each statement three times, slowly.]

(3X) I feel good about my commitment to lose one pound each week...

(3X) I feel good about my commitment to weigh less than XXX pounds [a weight you can achieve within a month or a week]...

(3X) I feel good about drinking only plain, clear, uncolored water...

(3X) I feel good about eating only healthy food...

(3X) I feel good about eating only half the food on my plate...

(3X) I feel good about my commitment to [specific exercise such as walking every day]...

(3X) How can I... be healthy and happy? ... [This is a calm, rhetorical question to your subconscious. It will work over time to slowly change your behavior and urges.]

(3X) How can I look like [a specific person] ? ...

(3X) Overeating is like poison to my body...

(3X) I need my body to live and to be happy...

(3X) I am in complete control of my eating habits...

I feel calm...

I feel relaxed...

I feel in control...

I am calm...

I am relaxed...

I am in control...

Count forward slowly from 1 to 3, feel rested and alert, and open your eyes.
